Max then practiced for 10 years in the areas of commercial and general litigation including insolvency, building disputes and arbitrations, mediations, personal injury claims and crime. During that period, he also worked as a Legal Officer in the Proceeds of Crime Unit at the Office of the Commonwealth Director of Public Prosecutions. Max left private practice when he was presented with a business opportunity and became a director and shareholder in a major food importer and wholesaler for a period of 18 years during which time he oversaw a seven fold growth in the turnover of the business which, when he elected to retire from it, employed some 50 staff. Following a brief break from employment, Max returned to full time legal practice in 2012. Max joined the team at G&M Lawyers in October 2013 to focus on business law, commercial litigation and estate planning. His commercial business experience and acumen is an invaluable asset to the firm. Max has been very active in the Italian community for over 35 years. In 1996 Max was appointed as a Commissioner on the Victorian Multicultural Commission and served in the role until 2001. He was Deputy Chairman in 1996. Max speaks and writes Italian fluently. Outside of law, Max’s activities include being President of The Sicilian Association of Australia. He has been a Public Speaker for over 30 years. He runs a Cooking School several times a year. He enjoys playing sports including tennis and golf. |
